Through the lens: SS 2014

Four key trends for Spring and summer this year styled by The Outnet.com, which, if you are yet to be aware of, is the place to visit for your designer clothing fix. Last weekend was the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend and Yummy Like Cake was there at Somerset House capturing Saturday afternoon’s Trend show.

METALLICS

Shine like jewels in the sunlight, radiate a golden gleam like wet sand on a beach; Glow like the stars on a midsummer’s night, shimmer like sea in the daytime. Wear your metallics as embellishments, coordinate your top with your bottoms, or keep it simple and slick. Metallics shouldn’t just be kept for glamorous evening wear. In fact, the more laid back and effortless the better.

FLORALS

What would be spring and summer without a floral print to match our surroundings? There’s the 60’s style ones for those late afternoons prancing around fields, letting out your inner hippy; There’s the oversized, the delicate, and there’s the 3d- as seen at the likes of Alberta Ferreti and Dolce and Gabanna- transforming you into a blossoming blissful garden.

LACE

Embrace the lace and wear with pride and elegance. If you fear of looking too ‘sexy’ or inappropriate then take cue from Burberry Prorsum and wear this season’s lace in sorbet colours as focus will instead be on how delightful and girly you come across rather than how much can be seen underneath.

SPORTSWEAR

Sports luxe is still running strongly. Bright bold colours, exaggerated silhouettes, rounded shoulders and FLATS are leading the way in terms of comfy clothing and (like always), if in doubt, Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney and Peter Pilotto have it figured out.
